Duffield's room was all about the class project for the Middle Ages Faire today. The mosaics are coming along- though it is tedious. Most of the students are putting in 100% effort!

Language Arts: Worked on narrative poetry and discussed the poetry checklist sheet- see above. Homework: Final poetry is due 6/3/16

Reading: Continued to work on our poetry interpretation packet. Homework: Packet and interpretation and a poem memorized due 6/1/16

SS- Continued working on our final Middle Ages Full Class Project

Math: Closure pg 424- 426- due Tuesday if you did not complete it yet

Science: No homework- We are trying to figure out if air has mass. See pictures above of the experiment.

Language Arts: Started creating a type of narrative poem. We completed the planning for those today- see poster above. Tomorrow, we will create these poems.

Reading: Started a poetry interpretation assignment today. Students need to read all poems in their packet, find evidence of literary devices, interpret a poem and memorize a poem. Homework: Poetry interpretation packet due: 6/1/16

Social Studies: Started our whole class project of mosaic stained glass for the Middle Ages Faire. See above for the first draft

Math: Pg 421

Science: Does Air Have Mass Lab due on Friday.

Language Arts: Discussed the literary devices- hyperbole & imagery today in class. We also looked at Storyteller's Poems. Homework- 10-15 minutes of writing poetry

Reading: Reader's Theater review of all of the different aspects to keep in mind while presenting.   We will present in class tomorrow.

SS: Worked on our class stained glass mosaic Middle Ages project. See above- we have more paper to cut tomorrow:) Also, note the hand-made soaps wrapped and ready to sell at the Faire! Homework: People of the Middle Ages packets due tomorrow.

Language Arts: Focused on more literary devices and speaking directly to the subject style poems. Homework- 10-15 minutes of writing poetry & bring a towel or small blanket to class tomorrow so we can write our spring haikus outdoors.

Reading: Practiced Reader's Theater and got some expert advice on our scripts.

SS: Worked on our Medieval Packets

Math: pg 407-408 problems 8-79 to 8-83 (If this was not done by today)

Language Arts: Made lists of some characteristics of poetry and spoke about seeing the world through a poet's eyes. Homework: Spend 15 minutes sitting and observing ordinary objects around you through a poet's eyes. For example: Clock- time keeper of the future

Language Arts: We started our poetry unit today and discussed noticings in different poetry books. See above for some examples. 

Reading: Started our second round of Reader's Theater. 

SS: Homework- make sure you know what your GUILD is and who you are working with. I would suggest writing a quick blurb of 3-4 sentences to solidify your ideas. 

Math: Mr K- no homework

Science: Diversity of Life reflections are due on Wednesday.

High Challenge Course

Ascending 25-45 feet into the trees or poles, the High Challenge course includes elements designed to give individuals the opportunity to challenge themselves with the support and encouragement of the group. The experience includes instruction on climbing harnesses, an introduction to the climbing system, personal goal setting, and the opportunity to try a variety of thrilling challenges. This experience concludes with an opportunity for participants to reflect on their accomplishments and challenges, and what lessons they will take home. High elements include:
